Everything baked and prepared in house is 100% gluten-free. The only item on the menu that is not gluten-free is the salteña (like an oven baked turnover) which is actually made by an outside bakery so as not to create a cross-contamination risk during food preparation.

The gluten-free options are endless and include everything from traditional Bolivian tapas like plantains, yucca frita, and empanadas to kale chips, corn tacos, gluten-free pizza, and lasagna. Finish off your meal with one of many gf (and vegan) desserts like hazelnut chocolate mousse, chocolate fudge pecan brownie, and coconut ice cream.

Hot Spud

Hot Spud | Facebook

Located at the edge of North Beach in Fisherman’s Wharf, Hot Spud is where you should head for lunch through late night for yummy potatoes stuffed with flavorful and healthy toppings. Restaurants management says that “all spuds are gluten free” and “all desserts are gluten-free.” The only items on the menu that are not gluten-free are three of the salad toppings: wonton strips, garlic herb croutons, and blue cheese. When salads are made with these items, staff takes care to prepare them in separate area to avoid cross-contamination. As for the potatoes, each 16-ounce spud is baked in a convection oven producing a light and fluffy interior and evenly browned exterior. What do customers love the most?

Hot Spud | ChugradMcAndrewsPhotography

The people’s favorite is the Chicken Spud with grilled chicken, hot wing sauce, all natural nitrate free bacon, corn, black olives, green onion and sour cream.

Hot Spud | Facebook

For dessert, try the hazelnut rice pudding. It’s made fresh from scratch with milk, rice, sugar and a touch of freshly roasted hazelnuts. Tastes just like a giant, perfectly roasted marshmallow!

Most of the menu is gluten-free with the exception of the lemon cookie and cookies & cream ice creams and the beer. You can ask that this seasoning not be added to your fries or chicken if you prefer.

Copita Tequileria y Comida

Copita | Facebook

For traditional Mexican food, margaritas, and plenty of corn tortilla taco options, Copita Tequileria y Comida is the place to go for gluten-sensitive diners. Located in the heart of downtown Sausalito, Copita serves lunch and dinner daily in a dining room, bar, and outdoor patio. All dishes are made from scratch using seasonal ingredients and traditional cooking methods with a unique twist.

Copita | Facebook

Customer favorites include different ceviches and steak, pork, chicken and veggie tacos. Coconut flan topped with caramel, whipped cream, and coconut flakes makes a fantastic dessert!

Copita | Facebook

An important note for Celiac diners: while the menu clearly states that “our lunch and dinner menu is 100% gluten-free,” gluten-removed beer-battered cod (using Omission Beer) is a taco option on the menu and is fried in the same fryer as everything else. The chips, empanadas, and other fried items should be avoided since gluten-removed beer is not entirely gluten-free. All grilled items are still good to enjoy and all tacos are prepared with corn tortillas.
