If I were a celiac living in Phoenix, which I am, I would only stick to the dedicated joints, the bakeries that have a separate prep and bake area, and the Fox Restaurant Concept restaurants that are trained. While many restaurants in Phoenix offer GF, not many of them really understand the prep that goes into a safe place. Separate pots pans skillets utensils and a separate toaster and waffle iron that is dedicated! I hope all restaurants on here have been vetted and they understand that.
Great insight, Erica! Thanks for sharing. We always break out the dedicated gluten-free and gluten-free friendly to make it easier for celiacs. Even under gluten-free friendly we try to share what processes the restaurants have in place to prevent cross-contamination. Since our readers are both Celiac and gluten sensitive it’s always great to hear additional input.
PIcazzo’s is great! Most of the menu is already gluten-free and they can make a gluten-free or a gluten-free and vegan pizza for you. Just make sure to tell them that you’re celiac, and confirm when picking up the pizza (or getting it delivered to your table) that it’s gluten-free. Great, safe place that has been Nima Sensor tested!
That’s great! Picazzo’s is actually going to be serving its pizzas at the upcoming GFAF Expo in Glendale, so that will be great for celiac and gluten sensitive patrons to try if they can’t make it out to their locations.
