Owner Kathryn Ernst says, “I would have loved a spot like Twist when I was younger and busy raising my three active children. A place with variety, a clean and welcoming atmosphere, friendly servers, and natural ingredients. If you’re going to come, “come for the bread!,” she says. Twist is famous for its incredible bread which tastes like a combination of Challah and Brioche—eggy, soft, and incredibly flavorful. And to go with that bread? How about handcrafted meatballs from Kathryn’s family recipe. Meatballs are filled with fresh herbs and house made bread crumbs, slow roasted for hours, and served on a panini style, grilled sandwich bread.

Chicken pot pie is also a big hit. They start by poaching all white meat chicken, adding fresh carrots, celery and peas, and then finish up by creating a flavorful gravy with house made stock to join them all together. Filling is then poured into a flaky pie crust and baked until golden.

Violette Gluten Free Bakery

In Cambridge, this small dedicated gluten-free bakery is creating big, satisfying flavors with hand milled flours and fresh, local, organic ingredients. Most everything here is made from scratch and contains fresh fruits, edible flowers, and seasonal vegetables.

This chef-inspired gluten-free friendly concept in Beverly, serves gourmet breakfast sandwiches, handcrafted drinks, and fresh baked pastries daily. Brother-owned and operated, family is at the heart of Crave. “Growing up with a mother and a brother who live with celiac disease, gluten-free was always going to be a key part of our offerings.”

Though not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, 80% of their menu is gluten-free. Ron, one of the owners, says that for gluten-free “we use separate cutting boards, knives, and utensils. Anything that’s baked with gluten is on a lined pan and baked separately. We’ve eliminated traditional flours in our kitchen to avoid airborne contamination by outsourcing all our doughs and breads that contain gluten. We have an exclusive griddle and work spaces to ensure we keep everything as separate as possible…We have been in business for over two years and not one person has had any kind of contamination.”

Fried seafood plates are hand breaded and fried in a gluten-free fryer to ensure there is no possibility of cross-contamination of items prepared with gluten ingredients. The breading for the seafood is a special recipe we created with a gluten-free bakery specifically made for Box Seats. We also buy our gluten-free fritter mix for the chicken from the same company. To eliminate the chance of cross contamination we only use the gluten-free fritter mix in the kitchen. There are no non-gluten free items that are hand breaded.”

Relax with family and friends at this modern Italian kitchen and bar with locations in Westford, Beverly, and Marlborough. Enjoy gluten-free lunch and dinner at a place specializing in unique twists on classic Italian flavors.

From the start, gluten-free options were important to Evviva Cucina, since owner Nick Harron’s father has Celiac Disease. They saw an opportunity to provide the gluten-free community with made-from-scratch Italian cuisine “without subjecting them to a drop in quality or an increase in price.” They’ve dedicated space on their menu, and in their kitchen, to do just that.

Nick says you’ll have to try the meatballs. “Gluten-free Nonna’s Meatballs are something we are extremely proud of. We actually use these gluten-free meatballs as the only meatball we serve, even to non-gluten free guests, and they always get rave reviews!” The meatballs are held together using a panade made from gf focaccia.

Dishes that include pasta, like the chicken marsala and the pugliese, use certified gluten-free corn pasta prepared in a separate pot with separate strainers.

Another pleaser is the carne pizza—a gluten-free crust topped with crushed tomato, cheese, meatball, sausage, and pepperoni cooked in a regular pizza oven on designated gluten-free pizza trays. “We have separate toppings and pans for our pizzas and purple color-coded knives, pizza slicers, tongs and cutting boards strictly for all gf products.” Top it all off with a flourless gluten-free chocolate brownie for dessert.

While the menu clearly states, “gluten sensitive items are prepared in shared preparation and cooking areas and may not be completely free from gluten,” restaurant management says “Joe’s American Bar and Grill has always been known for its scratch kitchen and the extreme measures we go to when faced with any type of allergy…Joe’s kitchen has a designated gluten-free fryer to avoid cross contamination at all costs as well as a strict glove change and utensil cleaning policy when approached with any type of allergy.”

Joe’s chefs recommend trying the pan-roasted Atlantic salmon served with sautéed spinach, tender artichoke hearts and shallots, cooked in a separate gf pan. The go-to plate here, though—fully loaded nachos. Corn chips are fried in a dedicated gf fryer, covered in cheddar and jack cheeses, then topped with generous helpings of shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, jalapeños, and guacamole.

    Boston needs actual 100% Gluten Free, dairy free, egg free, soy free options like how NYC has with The little Beet and Hu. I would like to try that Twist Bakery except it’s no where near the city, don’t have a car. There’s so much vegan here when it’s not a medical thing like Celiac where I need 100% GF/DF/EF/SF restaurant.
